In the fast-paced world of retail, effective leadership and cohesive teamwork are essential for success. By fostering a positive work environment, leaders can drive productivity and bolster team morale.

We were fortunate to chat with Korina Luco, whose extensive experience as a Sales Manager has enabled her to excel at KraftHeinz. Korina currently oversees the servicing of over 200 stores, ensuring that her team stays motivated and engaged while navigating the challenges of the retail industry. She provides invaluable support to her team, focusing on problem-solving, product replacement, and training new reps as a Retail Sales Manager.

How do you adapt your leadership style to meet the diverse needs and strengths of your team members?

Korina: “When I approach a situation, it's never about pointing out mistakes. It's about offering help and working together. Keeping it light and casual fosters honesty and better relationships," she explained. This adaptive, collaborative approach not only enhances team performance but also builds trust and resilience within the team.”

What methods do you use to keep your team motivated and engaged, especially during challenging times or periods of significant change?

Korina: "The attitude you have with your team is crucial," Korina emphasized. "We view challenges as opportunities and ensure everyone feels appreciated."

Recognition and rewards play a significant role too. "We highlight and appreciate great work, whether through verbal acknowledgment or prizes," she said. "Contests with Kraft-branded swag like pickleball sets, polos, and beach towels keep things fun and engaging."

She also underscored the importance of maintaining a positive attitude and fostering a sense of camaraderie. "Including everyone and maintaining a light, positive attitude helps keep the team motivated. It's about celebrating successes and learning from challenges together.”

What is one key takeaway you can give readers from your experience being a leader?

Korina: “Bad things don't always have to be bad. Especially when you have a team to depend on. Utilize the people around you. Just because you're managing someone doesn't mean they can't teach you something."

"The harder the times, the more you need to rely on your team. Stay determined, keep the conversation going, and maintain a positive attitude. It's been proven to me that things will get better when you work together."
