In the world of Destination Management, creating a memorable experience requires a blend of
creativity, strategy, and a deep understanding of client needs. Elizabeth Shea, Senior Sales Manager at Access, has mastered this balance, transforming ideas into extraordinary events that leave lasting impressions. We spoke with Elizabeth to discover how she nurtures creativity within her team and maintains a competitive edge in a fast-paced market.
How do you create an environment that fosters creativity and innovation in the workplace?
Elizabeth: "Our team is empowered to bring new ideas to the table and think creatively about
every aspect of our work. I often tell them that every outing, whether it’s a meal or a casual walk,
should be viewed as a scouting mission—always looking for inspiration or potential venues. By
empowering everyone to contribute and fostering collaboration between our creative and
operations teams, we ensure that our ideas are both innovative and achievable. This approach
allows us to continually push the boundaries and deliver the ‘wow’ factor that our clients expect."
How do you stay competitive in the sales market?
Elizabeth: "Staying competitive in the market means being able to tell compelling stories that
resonate with our clients. Each client and event is unique, and our job is to adapt and
personalize our approach to meet their specific needs. For example, when promoting Boston as
a destination, we highlight different aspects of the city that align with the client's vision. Whether
it's creating a sports-themed event at Fenway Park or bringing the essence of Boston
neighborhoods into a hotel ballroom, we tailor our storytelling to create a meaningful and
engaging experience.”
“You could run the same program a hundred times over but
people are always going to be different, and so it's about adapting to individual needs”
By constantly scouting for fresh ideas and adapting to each client’s unique needs, Elizabeth
ensures that every event not only meets but exceeds expectations, leaving a lasting impact on
all who attend.
